My Jewellery: “Van Duuren’s service ties in closely with our rapid growth”

What started with a few boxes has grown into a considerable volume of multiple consignments per week. The rapid growth of My Jewellery places high demands on the transport. ‘Our 1500 m2 warehouse is always full,’ says founder Sharon Hilgers of the mode- and jewellery brand.

Sharon Hilgers started seven years ago in Wijchen with the sale of jewellery, alongside her job as a teacher of French. What began as a hobby has now grown into a successful company. My Jewellery sells clothes and jewellery both online and in eight boutiques in the Netherlands. ‘The e-commerce side is the most important part of our turnover,’ says Hilgers. ‘Delivery times are very important in this market.’

Ed Kooiman of Van Duuren Districenters no longer knows exactly when it was, but the collaboration with My Jewellery began about five years ago with a quick telephone call to Vianen by Sharon. ‘We then set up a simple agreement for the transport of a few boxes’ he recalls. In the meantime this has now become several consignments per week full of My Jewellery’s fashion goods that are delivered to the various stores from Paris via Vianen. ‘We have a lot of connections with manufacturers in Paris,’ explains Sharon. ‘These suppliers prepare the consignments for me that Van Duuren transports from France to the Netherlands. From our own warehouse we ensure that everyone that orders online gets their goods on time.’

Quick, and always goes well
Hilgers is more than satisfied with the service provided by Van Duuren. ‘It is quick, and always goes well. Everyone in Vianen does their utmost to achieve the best result,’ she states firmly. According to her it is the short lines of communication and innovative marketing campaigns that is the key to My Jewellery’s success. ‘We work with a group of young and creative people who are not afraid to look at the mode- and e-commerce world in a different light. This morning we started an on-line campaign in which the girls can take part in an on-line game and can win prizes, such as a trip to Las Vegas. We have already had three thousand entries.’ She also sees the same energy in Van Duuren. ‘Contacting Van Duuren is always simple and easy, and just as we do, everyone in Vianen does their utmost to achieve the best result.’

For the time being the collaboration is limited to transport from Paris, but in view of the swift growth of My Jewellery it is not unlikely that other countries besides France will come into the picture. ‘We have already dealt with a consignment from Turkey,’ says Kooiman. ‘If Sharon decides to buy in countries such as Italy, Germany or England, she can of course also talk to us about that.’
